Tony Mackay
Founder

Having served more than 20 years in the Australian Regular Army followed by 15 years in senior leadership roles across the public and private sectors, I’ve seen and experienced both excellent and appalling examples of leadership. In 2015, I started INSYNC Management Solutions, initially to share the leadership lessons I learned during my career through mentoring and later expanding into coaching and training.

Our primary focus has been, and always will be, helping Defence industry clients become better leaders, but more and more we’re being asked to mentor, coach, and train junior and senior leaders across all sectors. I guess the help we provide and the lessons we share resonate with most everyone.

The Leader’s Handbook

The Leader’s Handbook provides a comprehensive overview of the core aspects of leadership including how to develop your personal leadership skills, effectively lead and manage a team, and how to lead within an organisational context. The book is influenced by the Tony’s service with the Australian Army and begins by defining leadership and discussing its importance in various settings, including business, government, education, community organisations and of course within Defence.

The Leader’s Handbook provides a comprehensive and practical guide for individuals looking to develop their leadership skills and effectively lead and manage a team. It covers a wide range of topics, from the basics of leadership to advanced strategies for success. Readers will gain a deeper understanding of leadership and will become equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively lead and manage a team.

Leadership Development

Our leadership development programs are rooted in military leadership doctrine and principles. We design and deliver our programs for individuals and groups, taking into consideration discrete and collective needs. Our training spans tactical, operational, enterprise and strategic level leadership, management and command. We believe there are no born leaders. Rather, leaders are shaped by their environment, their experience, their conditioning, and the wisdom of their teachers. Our tailored training plans start with the end in mind and we provide ongoing support through our leadership network and support streams.

Coaching & Mentoring

Whether you are looking for a coach or mentor to help you improve your leadership skills, set and achieve goals, or develop your own coaching leadership style, we will help you stay curious and teach you how to ask great questions. We will help build your confidence, enhance your positive character traits, and refine your leadership skills, all the while guiding you to develop your own unique leadership style with the flexibility to swap between styles as the situation demands. Your ability to adapt your leadership style whilst remaining authentic and true to your values will set the standard for your organisation and establishing you as a role model for junior and senior leaders alike. 

Training

We offer group and individual training sessions designed to elevate you to a state of high performance. All our training is module based, allowing us to quickly tailor the training meet both individual and collective needs. We deliver face-to-face training at your premises as well as online training via our E-Learning Portal. We also offer blended training options that provide the best of both worlds.  

We will help you develop the skills needed to become a highly effective leader and get results. We employ a variety of training techniques and modes such as workshops, case studies, site visits, guest speakers, and practical exercises, all designed to give the training mean and make the learning stick.

Communication, Motivational Speaking and Presenting

Great vision and brilliant plans are mere thought bubbles in the minds of their creators if they are not effectively shared. Being an influential communicator is absolutely fundamental to being a great leader. Our presentation training will help build gravitas and teach you how to deliver impactful presentations. We will help develop your confidence, poise and presence allowing you to move from good communicator to great leader. We also deliver inspirational leadership content through our seminars and presentations, designed to motivate great leadership within you and your organisation.

Team Building

Building high-performing teams is simple but not easy. Leadership works best when you create an environment that supports your team and allows them to grow. There are no bad teams, just bad leaders. Learn how to take your team from low to high performance. 

Planning

Planning, whether strategic, operational or tactical level, should be underpinned by a proven planning process. We have developed a unique planning system based on the Military Appreciation Process (MAP) that is scalable and able to be used to plan anything in a systematic, thorough and effective manner.

Creating a vision for the future and inspiring others to help you make that future a reality is fundamental to being a great leader. Project Leadership

Initiating, planning, executing, managing and closing a project can be a daunting proposition, especially if it’s your first time. As we move through our careers as managers and leaders we often find ourselves responsible for delivering or leading projects with no past experience or training. We specialise in providing ‘quickstart’ Project Management training to get you and your project off and running in the right direction. 

Problem Solving

Don’t know where to start? Overwhelmed by complexity? Operating in a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) environment? Relax, we can help you step back, see the bigger picture and be objective. We’ll show you how to clarify and simplify the problem. We’ll also teach you how to identify the root cause and how to develop effective solutions. 

Critical Thinking

Thinking critically is an essential skill needed to be an effective leader. Too often, emotion drives decisions making, leading to poor outcomes, resentful staff, and dissatisfied clients. Developing critical thinking skills takes time but can be learnt. Critical thinking seeks to identify reliable information and make reliable judgements. It encompasses mindset and skills, both of which can be developed through an understanding of key concepts, practice and application.
